Dr. Vickey Brooks
Dr. Brooks, the owner of Adamson Veterinary Services, has been in the veterinary industry for 15 years as a research biologist, licensed veterinary technician, hospital manager and veterinarian. She has been living and practicing in Salem for several years.
Dr. Brooks received her bachelor’s degree in biology, and education from Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1992. She began her animal science career as an intern at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI studying the life cycle of cranes. She helped raise Siberian cranes, Sandhill cranes, and Whooping cranes for reintroduction into the wild. She left there and worked for the Patuxent Fish and Wildlife center to help raise Texas Bobwhite Quail for reintroduction to the wild in 1993. There she worked as a research assistant. In 1994 she began her career as a veterinarian assistant and became a licensed veterinary technician in Maryland in 1996. She received her veterinary medicine degree from Ross University of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Dr. Brooks came to work in Salem in 2004 and has been there ever since. She is an experienced surgeon and general practitioner. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Feline Practitioner Society, Veterinary Emergency Medicine Society and International Rotary Club. She is the president of the local chapter of the Eastern Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, currently serving on the Humane Society of Columbiana County Humane Society and owner of Adamson Veterinary Services. She has a 40 year eclectic career that includes military service (US Women’s Army Corp), Motherhood (raised 2 children), Teacher (grades 8 – 12 and martial arts), artist and animal science careers.
Dr. Alicia Boyce
Dr. Boyce has been an exciting addition to our veterinary team. She received her DVM at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and cannot imagine a career more fulfilling than that of a veterinarian. Her undergraduate degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Biology and Chemistry was earned at The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. She has worked in multiple veterinary clinics while pursuing her DVM degree, as well as having spent time studying elephants and other exotic animals in Thailand.
Dr. Boyce, a native of Ohio, is a Buckeye through and through. When not in the clinic, she enjoys reading, spending time with her husband and their four-footed child, a demanding feline named Katy.
Dr. Alicia Myatt
Dr. Myatt is a new graduate from Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine and joined our family in July 2018. She obtained her Bachelors of Science from Ashland University. She enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Medicine, But, she especially enjoys Nutrition, Feline Behavior and performing Surgeries. Outside of work, Dr. Myatt enjoys reading, Kayaking, hiking, watersports and spending time with her family. She currently has 3 cats; Mub, Grub and Ivan; and would love nothing more than to add to her family a Dog and a Chinchilla. Dr. Myatt has been such an asset to our team and we cannot be more appreciative of her skills and love of Veterinary Medicine.
Lisa joined the Adamson team in early 2018. She comes from a very extensive background of Administration and Human Resources along with a license in Nursing. She moved to Salem in 2017 after she met her Husband, Allen. Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to Demolition Derby’s, (Where her husband runs, sponsored by Adamson’s), reading and spending time with her 2 year old Rottweiler, Gunther. She is thrilled to be working in the Salem community and with our wonderful staff!
Anne has over 20 years of experience as a customer service specialist and is always willing to go the extra mile to help you out by making sure you and your four-footed children are well taken care of. Anne joined our family in 2005 and she has been an amazing addition ever since. Anne is the “go to girl” if you ever need a good laugh, comforting words in time of sorrow or great words of advice. Anne is married with one son and enjoys spending every moment she can with them. Anne has 5 cats, two of which are Ragdolls and she has been known to be the cat whisperer.
Veterinary Technician Supervisor
Sarah grew up on a small farm raising Llamas and rabbits, which led to her decision to work in the veterinary field. In August 2015, she graduated from Bradford Vet Tech Institution in Columbus and joined our team in March 2016. Sarah still loves to work with Llamas and occasionally mentors younger 4H groups as an Alumni of the Mahoning County Llama Club. In the future, she would like to start showing Llamas again. Sarah likes to travel with her husband and spend time with her two dogs, Lizzie and Carma. Her favorite animal is a Giraffe, but, she also loves Llamas, Cows and Horses.
Tajana is an RVT who graduated in 2011 from Brown Mackie College. She has 3 cats and 1 dog, and loves the outdoors. One of her favorite things to do is to go hiking with her dog Harley Quinn. Tajana joined our staff in April of 2018 and she is such a delight to work with, we couldn’t be happier to have her as part of our family.
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Emily is currently enrolled at Kent State Trumbull for the Veterinary Technology Program. Her passion for Veterinary Medicine began in her sophomore year in high school, when she started the Animal Science Program at Columbiana Country Career and Technical Center. When she is not helping animals, Emily competes in rodeos with her horse and sings at local events. Emily has been a part of the Adamson Family since July 2017 and is such a joy to work with.
Veterinary Technician Assistant
Hannah, (ironically named after Jack Hannah), started her Veterinary Assisting journey in late 2016. She attended beauty school, but, her heart knew that Veterinary Medicine was her passion. She will be furthering her education soon for her Veterinary Technician License. Working in a zoo with the orangutans has always been a dream for Hannah. She resides in Canfield with her Boyfriend and 3 Kitties, Penelope, Enzo and Olive (with much more room to grow her fur baby family). Her interests include Tim Burton movies, Maine Coon cats, make-up artistry and bowling, and her spirit animal is a Llama. We were so lucky to have Hannah join our family in April 2018. She will brighten any room or situation with her bubbly personality and caring smile.
Danielle has been a member of the Adamson team since March 2008. She had 8 years experience at another clinic before finding her home with us. She enjoys working in the Veterinary Field because of the interaction with each patient. She is always doing her best to make sure our clients get a great experience out of their visit here in the office.
Julie is a caring receptionist with numerous years of experience in customer service. She joined our team in 2012 and could not be more grateful to have her. She is always greeting those that come through the door with a smile. Julie enjoys meeting everyone and hearing their stories about their four-footed family members. She has lived in this area for over a decade with her loving husband and full-of-energy son.
Shelley has been employed here as a receptionist since 2016. She has been married to her husband Jay since 1998. Shelley has 2 children, Morgan (19) and Justyn (17). She has an adorable Rottweiler named Scarlett and a cat named Penguin. Shelley has been involved in animal care and welfare for 7 years and having her as part of our family is a blessing.
Jessica started here at Adamson’s in February 2018 and she works as both a Daytime Receptionist and an ER receptionist. In her spare time outside of work, Jessica likes to spend time with her Boyfriend, her dog Bella, and her Family and Friends. Other times, you can find her in the garage working on projects with her Boyfriend. Jessica is so excited to work in this community, taking care of everyone’s pets and being able to work with such a great team is an added bonus.
